It’s the Little Things in Life…

… that make up for purposeful living. So says the wise man in Proverbs 24:30-34

“I went past the field of the sluggard, past the vineyard of the man who lacks judgment; thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruin.

I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw:

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest – and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.”

Lessons from the vineyard owner:

1. The vineyard, once fruitful is now barren, was not in ruins overnight. It was prolonged neglect to care & till the land that led to the dilapidated condition.

- when we neglect to take care of the condition of our hearts & spiritual growth, we will end up in ruins.

2. The “little by little” include our procrastination, slothfulness, complacency in our spritual disciplines (oh, how guilty I am for all of them!), and over time adds up to much and lead to our destruction.

- when we are intentional in the “little things” in our lives that are crucial in our spiritual growth, we will experience slow but sure, significant growth & progress over time.

These “little things” include:

1. setting aside time to spend with the Lord every day (which i have not kept to)

2. having a reading plan for the Bible (which i have but waiting for me to execute DAILY!, not as & when)

3. joining a cell group/small group Bible study (which I am MIA)

Besides Spiritual Health, Physical Health also make a difference!

Start with something manageable and stay at it. PROCRASTINATE no further!

A year from now, based on the little things we do or neglect to do today, what would we wake up to find?

Will it be our growth & fruitfulness because we have chosen to be intentional in the little things to cultivate the soil in our hearts, or would it be the ruined vineyards we have become?

What will i find?
